If you arrive by train, take a taxi to the School of Physics and Astronomy from Southampton Airport (Parkway) station, where most London trains stop, or from Southampton Central station. It's quicker from the Airport (Parkway) station if you come from the London direction. There are uni-link buses from both stations to the University.
If you fly to Southampton, the airport is right next to the Airport (Parkway) station, so you can take a taxi or use the bus as above.
If you want to drive, please inform the seminar organiser beforehand, so they can arrange for a parking permit.
We are a couple of miles North of the city centre, not far South of the airport. If you approach Southampton from the north, you should be coming down the M3/A33. Where the road forks to meet the M27, you can follow signs on either side to Southampton, coming in to a roundabout. From here, follow the road South through the suburbs, proceeding straight ahead at a small roundabout. You will see signs to the University as the road (which is called Bassett Avenue, but changes its name to The Avenue at about this point) crosses Burgess Road at a set of traffic lights.
Turn left (East) along Burgess Road, and take the first right (second set of traffic lights) into University Road, followed by another right after about 100 yards into Salisbury Road. At the end of Salisbury Road turn left into a little road winding along the West edge of the campus. Follow this to the physics department car park.
If you miss the junction with Burgess Road, you will find yourself driving through the Common (a park, with a couple of main roads through it). Turn left 45 degrees into Highfield Lane at the junction (traffic lights) a few hundred yards into the Common, and then left at the second junction into Hawthorn road. Follow Hawthorn Road to a T-junction at the far end and turn left into Chamberlain Road. Go straight ahead into the physics car park. The Physics and Astronomy building is on your right as you enter the car park.
