Registration and Accomodation
Registration is being handled by the University of Southampton
Conference Office. You can download a registration form in A4 or letter-sized PostScript
to send to the office [if you have trouble with PostScript, a plain text version is available, but please use
the PostScript form wherever possible]. If you pay by credit card (see
below), the preferred method is to fax the form directly to the
Conference Office.
The Conference Office will not formally register you
for the symposium until they receive the registration fee.
Registration Fee
The registration fee is £200 until 30 April 1999, rising to
£220 from 1 May onwards.
The fee covers:
- Reception on Sun 25 July and Conference dinner on Weds 28
July
- Morning Coffee, lunch and afternoon tea during the four days of
talks
- A copy of the proceedings on cd-rom
Accompanying persons do not need to pay the registration fee. They
should pay for the Conference dinner separately if they wish to
attend. Indicate on the registration form the number of persons
excluding yourself you wish to bring to the Conference
dinner. Indicate also the number of persons excluding
yourself for whom you need additional accomodation. Extra
payments for companions should be included in the total payable.
Acccomodation
The symposium has the use of Highfield Hall of residence, which is
within a couple of minutes' walk of the Avenue Campus (marked "Arts"
on the detail map) where the talk sessions are held. There are 116
standard single rooms with washbasin and 40 ensuite single rooms with
private facilities. Bed and breakfast accomodation is available for
the four nights, Sunday 25 July to Wednesday 28 July inclusive. Rates
are shown on the registration form.
The conference office has also negotiated rates, shown on the
registration form, for overnight-with-breakfast at three hotels. The
County Hotel [description from
the AA guide] is near the
University campus (about 15 min walk from the lecture site), while the
Ibis [description from
the AA guide] and Southampton
Park hotels are near Southampton city centre (a mile or so from
the University). If you wish to book accomodation at the conference
rates in these hotels, please do it via the registration form.
Note that the Ibis Hotel has requested payment for all rooms required
by 1st June. Rooms booked at the Ibis and not required have to be
cancelled 4 weeks prior to the booked dates to avoid cancellation
fees.
The registration form allows you to indicate your full accomodation
requirements, including those of any accompanying persons. Please
contact the conference office directly to enquire about availablity of
rooms outside the range of dates given on the registration form.
Payment
If paying by credit card, insert card details on the registration form
and fax (preferred) or mail the form to the University of Southampton
Conference Office. The fax number and address are:

These also appear on the form. Faxes will be seen only by staff in the
Conference Office.
