Residual symmetries for quark and lepton mixing matrices
We seek possible residual symmetries in lepton and quark sectors with Abelian Zn symmetry for each sector. For the lepton sector, necessary conditions for ensuring that the inherent symmetries Z_2xZ_2 for neutrino and Zm for charged lepton can be embedded into a single discrete group. For quark sector, we begin with two extreme cases in which both θ13 and θ2 3 or only θ13 are set to zero. Then, cases where all the Cabibbo-Kobayashi- Maskawa parameters are allowed to take nonzero values are explored. On the o ther hand, larger groups are necessary in order to be consistent with all th e mixing parameters. Possibilities of embedding the obtained residual symmet ries into the ∆(6N2) series are also briefly discussed.
