Title:
Rare Kaon Decays on the Lattice
Abstract:

Rare kaon decays present many interesting phenomenological
opportunities. The decays of a kaon to a pion and a lepton/antilepton
pair, which proceed via a FCNC, are useful for studying CP violation and
probing for New Physics. The decay of a kaon to a pion and a charged
lepton/antilepton pair however is dominated by long distance effects,
making it an excellent candidate for a lattice calculation. I will
discuss the methodology of calculating the amplitude of the long
distance contributions to this decay using lattice QCD and present the
numerical results of some exploratory studies.
